Jjapaguri, also known as ‘ram-don’ in the loosely English-subbed version, is an instant noodle dish made by mixing two types of instant noodles: Chapagetti and Neoguri.
This dish was recently brought into the spotlight through the Oscar-winning movie ‘Parasite’. To depict the stark wealth contrast of the Park family, Bong Joon-Ho introduces the viewers to a super lavish version of it that’s casually topped with the finest cut of Hanwoo steak (which by the way, happens to be one of the most rare and expensive meats in the world)
The dish looked so tempting on screen so decided to recreate a version at home. I added a cut of sirloin steak into the mix and topped it off with a soft boiled egg, some spring onions and sesame seeds. Even though my rendition did unfortunately not include any Hanwoo steak, it was super easy to make and super delicious too. The instant noodles on their own are actually so delicious! I’ve never tried Chapagetti before, and will definitely make this a new staple in my pantry from now on!
